Given the decline in fertility rates and its long-term consequences for the country,this study examines the issue of childbearing within the context of political uncertainty and ineffective public policymaking.Employing a qualitative approach and grounded theory methodology following the systematic strategy of Strauss and Corbin, along with theoretical sampling, 30 in-depth interviews were conducted.These included 15 interviews with one partner from childless couples who had been married for at least three years, and 15interviews with one partner from one-child-couples who had a child over the age of five and had voluntarily decided not to have additional children.Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using open,axial, and selective coding.The core category, titled "Childbearing Decline Amid Political Uncertainty," was constructed from the main categories of the study.The findings indicate that the decline in fertility rates has become a social issue intertwined with political governance.In fact, the study demonstrates that even the most private aspects of individuals' lives, such as decisions about childbearing, are influenced by broader social and political variables.The results suggest that any demographic planning must align with the socio-political realities of society, and that an increase in fertility rates can be achieved by restoring hope and trust within the community.
