This study aims to examine the relationship between individualism and students’ attitudes toward single living. Data were collected through a survey method using a standardized questionnaire administered to a sample of 400 university students. The results of the correlation analysis indicate a positive and statistically significant relationship between individualism and attitudes toward single living, such that a stronger orientation toward individualistic values is associated with more favorable attitudes toward single living.
The findings further show that individualism, with a standardized beta coefficient of 0.220, is the most important and strongest predictor of attitudes toward single living among the variables included in the model. These results suggest that students’ attitudes toward single living are shaped less by structural, economic, or educational constraints and more by profound value changes, the strengthening of individual autonomy, and the process of individualization of lifestyle choices in contemporary Iranian society. Overall, the findings indicate that single living among students should be analyzed not merely as a transitional condition, but as a reflective and meaningful choice.
